UCL Presents The MIGHTY UKE

EXCLUSIVE MUSIC VIDEO by the MERSEY BELLES

See it first here!!! How honoured are we:

The MIGHTY UKE is showcasing in Liverpool on 23rd Nov 2013

We are sooooo excited and honoured to be involved with the showcase of such a fantastic award winning documentary feature film that travels the world to discover why so many different cultures, ages and musical tastes are turning to the ukulele to express themselves, connect with the past and with each other.

We are openly inviting everyone and anyone and are delighted to announce that our very dear friends, the MERSEY BELLESwill be hosting the event as well as performing a range of their classic songs live in the cinema with UKEBOX and some other very special guests to be announced very soon!!!

All money raised from the event will be donated to the NYSTAGMUS NETWORK a charity very close to our hearts.
Nystagmus is characterised by an involuntary movement of the eyes, which often seriously reduces vision. In the UK many people with nystagmus can register as sight impaired; few can drive a car; most encounter some difficulties in everyday life - both practical and social - and some lose out on education and employment opportunities.

TICKETS for this fantastic event are just £15 per person and can be purchased online through EVENTBRITE.

As well as the film and some fantastic live performances we will also be holding a MASS BUSK so make sure you bring your UKULELES along!

Here's a little preview of what you can expect:

The film will be screening at WOOLTON PICTURE HOUSE on Saturday 23rd November from 3.30pm and will conclude around 8pm.

TILT SHIFT MUSIC Official Launch: 20th June 2013 @ Kazimier Gardens, Liverpool

MORE BANDS ANNOUNCED!!! SEE BELOW . .

Tilt Shift Music

Helping new and unsigned artists with all aspects of promotion and publicity since 2011.

Lately I have spent a bit of time getting to know the team behind Tilt Shift Music. When I say team - I mean one woman, a truly, magnificent Superwoman!

Kerry Turley, as well as being the company founder, is also the general manager, artist liaison officer, marketing manager, research expert, interviewer, administrator, promoter, blogger, on-call counsellor and . .. the list goes on.

So how did it all begin?

Kerry's son is Ali Ingle. Last year Ali won the Best Male Award at the Liverpool Music Awards and this year he signed a 5 album record deal with Kundun Music. Kerry basically worked tirelessly night and day, for months on end, and often into the early hours, to assist Ali in getting the recognition he deserved. She contacted everyone and anyone about his music and achieved incredible results. This is what paved the way for the foundations of Tilt Shift Music. I, for one, believe that this is the start of something big and have no doubt that it will find it's way onto the musical map of Merseyside champions.

It all started when Kerry's son Ali Ingle needed a hand promoting his debut EP release "The Man and the Monster". Kerry worked tirelessly to do what she could to get airplays on radio stations in the USA, Canada, Europe and in the UK. She also organised and instigated reviews and interviews with online magazines such as NMEEyeplug and imusicate and online music blogs including, The Music ManualSeven Streets and Seba Rashii Culture.

It didn't stop there! Kerry went a step further and got connected with established online media organisations including, Balcony TVLiverpool Live TVBay TV, and Culture City TV adding to the expansion of Ali's social media profile. The buzz had been created, Ali was getting noticed and Kerry was hooked.

Tilt Shift Music: THE OFFICIAL LAUNCH PARTY

Thursday 20th June 2013
@ Kazimier Gardens, Liverpool
Doors: 6pm - 10pm

Entry fee: FREE

This, my good fellow citizens, is a major launch party not to be missed. Check out the line up and see for yourselves:

For starters: MERSEY BELLES

To get the party started we have the fantastic, ukulele strumming, vintage duo, audaciously known as the Mersey Belles. They have been on the scene just 4 months and have already captured the hearts and ears of the nation. They have performed at local and national festivals, vintage fairs, private parties, weddings, charity and community events, and in early Spring were invited to perform on the Billy Butler Show at BBC Radio Merseyside. To top it all off, they were recently cast for a part (as the Mersey Belles) in a major feature film set in the 1940's, which is now in pre-production.

They cover a wide range of popular hit songs from the 40's and 50's and add a twist of Mersey Belle vintage to their arrangements of contemporary pop hits such as "We Found Love".

La Banquet: LUKE, RICHARD & THOMAS

Think of this course as a mini banquet bonanza! A superb selection of tasty treats from 3 of Tilt Shift's very own artists:

LUKE CUSATO

An 18 yr old English singer/songwriter, session Musician, versatile Pianist and Vocalist who recently released his Debut EP 'Blueskies Sunrise' onto iTunes, Spotify and the likes. His tone, style and songwriting ability is immensely satisfying to the ear, to say the least:

Recently he has been in session on Addistock where he was filmed singing/playing various tracks including a cover of The Black Keys, "Lonely Boy" click on THIS to watch it. Nothing more to say except than he is definitely one to look out for!

RICHARD FRANCIS

Next up we have multi-talented, 20 yr old singer/songwriter Richard Francis. Relatively new to the music scene, but already making a massive impact. With Kerry behind him it wont be long before he is catapulted into the music-sphere. He sounds, pleasantly like many of my favourite artists rolled into one, but with a fresh new vibe, which is only a good thing. Have a listen for yourself and see if you know who I'm talking about:

THOMAS McCONNELL

If you like the tasty sound of Northern Soul combined with a dash of Beatle juice and a pinch of psychedelia then you should do some more research on this guy. At just 20 years old, Thomas McConnell knows exactly what he wants and has found the perfect promoter to help him get there.

He has had airplay a plenty on BBC Radio 6's Introducing Mixtape, BBC Radio Merseyside, Liver Radio, The Tom Robinson Show and has supported some of the Liverpool heavy weights including China Crisis, Ian McCullough and Ian Broudie of the Lightning Seeds. In 2012 he released his debut EP "Stop In The Shade". There is no stopping Thomas.

The Main Course: ALI INGLE

Ali Ingle - Singer/Songwriter @Kundun Music
Ali Ingle (yes you read that correctly), the crem de la crem of new talent is headlining the Tilt Shift Music launch event. This is a rarity not to be missed. Ali is currently recording his debut Album at Parr St Studios and will soon be whisked off around the globe to share his fine art. This is one of those; "I wish I'd of gone to that free event when I had the chance" regrets you will have if you decide to do something else more boring instead.

As well as a great singer/songwriter, Ali Ingle is also a dab hand at producing fantastic D.I.Y music videos that capture the essence of some awesome childhood memories. This "Tornado" is about to cause a massive storm!

And for Dessert: THE SWAPSIES

What better way to top it all off! The Swapsies, of Lovelypool brilliance, will bring their freshly baked, sugar infused Indie-pop creations to the garden stage as the icing on the cake! They hit the Liverpool music scene last summer supporting Allo Darlin on their UK tour and at the Used Vinyl Club series, both of which awarded them some rave reviews in Peter Guy's Merseyblog and Bido Lito (Issue 27, p36). The Swapsies have so far produced two free Mp3 debut tracks ("You're My Maillot Jaune" & "Hey There You" which have been spun frequently on the Dave Monks BBC Introducing Show (BBC Radio Merseyside) and rumour has it that they will be releasing their first single this summer on USA based indie label "Manic Pop! Records"

As if that wasn't neat enough - they will also be introducing you to something new to do on the grassy playing fields of your local parks! Intrigued? All will be revealed very soon. But for now:

https://www.facebook.com/TheSwapsies

There will also be a few other guest appearances (TBC) and there is one extra, rather exciting, "thing" happening at the Tilt Shift Launch event but I have been sworn to secrecy - so I cannot say what it is. It's out of this world - that much I can say. Guess you'll just have to come along and see for yourself. You will not be disappointed!! The Kaz kitchen will be open so you can eat your tea there too!

UKULELE CLUB perform at THRESHOLD FESTIVAL 2013

UKULELE CLUB LIVERPOOL

UKULELE CLUB LIVERPOOL began in December 2012.

On Friday 8th March 2013 they made their debut appearance in collaboration with the MERSEY BELLES, live on stage at Liverpool's premiere grass roots festival THRESHOLD FESTIVAL.

It all began with a request from a local lady who wanted to learn to play the ukulele so that she could incorporate it into her comedy set. Little did she realise that her request would create such a local phenomena and inspire people of all ages to join in!

Having taught basic music skills in a range of instruments from almost 7 years at various youth clubs, colleges and schools, I thought it would be a great idea! The instrument is lightweight, relatively affordable, no excess power supply needed and pretty easy to learn once you realise that soprano ukes (small ones) are tuned to GCEA which is the same as playing the bottom 4 strings on a guitar with a capo on the 5th fret . . . .

But enough of that for now! The majority of Ukulele Club members had never played an instrument before in their entire lives - so after just 3 months of meeting once a week for an hour did a tremendous job performing live on stage infront of hundreds of people after only a few weeks of rehearsals - Have a listen:

They took to the stage like pro musicians and gave it there all. No stopping them now!

They were joined by the fantastic MERSEY BELLES who had another gig at a fundraising event for SAHIR HOUSE the same night after Threshold at HOUSE on Bold Street, Liverpool. Most of us went along to support them and were suprised when they invited one of our club members up on stage to join them with a kazoo solo! Check it out . . .

They went on to play an amazing set - with an extra special version of the 1926 hit classic 'Baby Face'

We only have one male member - who is not complaining! Here he is back stage at the Threshold Festival with the MERSEY BELLES.

Back Stage at Camp & Furnace, Threshold Festival

We not only got our club name up in print on the official Threshold Poster that was plastered all over the city centre but also imprinted onto the official Threshold T-Shirts! I bought one - will post a photo up soon
